On 25 September, we issued a public notice warning against the illegal sale of three properties forming part of our Bakweri ancestral heritage:
- Buea Mountain Club land.
- Fako CPDM Secretariat land.
- Government Nursery School land, Buea Town.
Now, the SDO for Fako has signed an order dated 12 October 2026 placing the parcel between the Government Bilingual Nursery School and the Youth Centre in Buea under injunction, prohibiting interference and requiring immediate implementation.
This is an encouraging protective step in the struggle we took up together. Our warnings are being heard, and our persistence is producing results!
I therefore repeat: DO NOT BUILD ON ANCESTRAL LAND YOU MAY HAVE PURCHASED ILLEGALLY. If someone sold you land without lawful authority, now is the time to seek reimbursement from the seller. Do not pour more money into disputed land, and respect the injunction.
My sincere thanks to every resident, traditional leader, advocate and supporter involved in this fight. I also thank the administration for listening to our call and taking action. We expect this order to be fully enforced.
Other unresolved land cases require equally urgent attention. This progress must strengthen our resolve to pursue lawful recovery and accountability throughout Fako.
