Eid Mubarak: a message of unity and responsibility addressed to the people of Guinea

By Dr. David Makongo ·

On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, a strong message of peace and social cohesion was addressed to the people of Guinea. In Conakry—more precisely at the Bambeto mosque—this statement resonated as a call for collective responsibility during a period marked by many challenges.

In his remarks, Dr. David Makongo recalled that the month of Ramadan is a school of discipline, self-mastery, and solidarity. He emphasized the need to carry these values into everyday life, beyond fasting.

“Ramadan has taught us moderation and restraint. It is now up to us to apply these principles in our words, our actions, and our relationships with others,” he said.

Referring to the current socio-economic context—marked in particular by rising prices for basic necessities and fuel, as well as a shortage of cash—Dr. Makongo called for resilience and unity. He also stressed that, despite tensions in the world and in certain border areas, what matters most is preserving our humanity and living together peacefully.

He further urged citizens to make social networks spaces for constructive dialogue rather than arenas of confrontation. “Kindness must prevail over conflict, and unity over bitterness,” he insisted.

On this Eid al-Fitr, Dr. David Makongo invited every Guinean to strengthen community bonds and work toward a peaceful and supportive society.

He concluded with a prayer for the peace, stability, and prosperity of the country: “Eid Mubarak to all. May God bless Guinea and protect her sons and daughters.”
